3 Ex-Memphis Cops Acquitted In Tyre Nichols Death

MEMPHIS, UNITED STATES – Three former Memphis police officers have been acquitted of all state charges, including second-degree murder, in the deadly beating of Tyre Nichols.

Nichols, a 29-year-old black man, died after a brutal encounter caught on video in January 2023, sparking protests across the U.S.

The jury, which appeared all-white, took just under nine hours to deliver the not-guilty verdict, stunning Nichols’ family and supporters.

The three officers still face federal sentencing later this year.
