Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend Convicted of Manslaughter
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of killing his live-in girlfriend in 2012 has been convicted of manslaughter.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of killing his live-in girlfriend in 2012 has been convicted of manslaughter.
Trevor Smith, 53, faces a maximum punishment of life imprisonment for the death of 21-year-old Anthonique Hunter when he’s sentenced by Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez.
Smith told police that he stabbed Hunter in the chest after he took a knife from her after she attacked him.
According to the pathologist, the stab wound broke Hunter’s sternum and punctured her heart and lungs.
Prosecutors alleged that Smith was angry because Hunter, whom he had dated since she was 16, wanted to move on.
Smith, who was on bail during his trial, was remanded to prison to await sentencing.
