LONDON, ENGLAND – London, with a population of over nine million, is the largest metropolis in Western Europe, which makes it another ideal market for The Bahamas’ tourism expansion. Amidst all the historic sites and landmarks—and home to the world’s most famous family, “The Royals”—it’s where the Ministry of Tourism has set down its biggest selling pitch on this side of the world, known as the Global Sales Mission.

On Thursday night (Nov. 6, 2025) , hundreds of travel partners will experience the destination in a showcase tailor-made to entice European travelers.

Latia Duncombe – Director General, Tourism
“They also want an out island experience. They want something that’s more nature-based. They want to be immersed in the community. They want to meet with the people and engage with the people.”

But the Ministry of Tourism is not alone on this international sales drive. The Bahamas High Commission in London is in lockstep, providing support in very tangible ways. Aside from sharing a physical space here in The Bahamas House, where the High Commission is headquartered, Deputy High Commissioner Antonio Butler explains it this way.

Antonio Butler – Deputy High Commissioner, London
“We work on initiatives together but we have different focuses. This is one of the largest events that tourism hosts. It’s our time to showcase The Bahamas and show the world what The Bahamas has to offer. And as you can see, many countries are looking at The Bahamas and wondering how do we keep a competitive edge.”

The relationship between the High Commission and the Ministry of Tourism makes a lot of practical sense, and that relationship has been on full display this week here in London, where the focus has been on the expansion and growth of the tourism product.
