Officials Tour Schools Under Renovation

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Contractors have been given a two-week deadline to complete extensive renovations at eight schools across New Providence and several family islands. A delegation led by the prime minister toured those schools today.

Less than 14 days before the official opening of public schools, extensive renovation is still underway at multiple campuses across the country.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Philip Davis led a tour of several New Providence schools today where contractors are still hard at work.

Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin giving the assurance that all school repairs will be completed by August 22nd.

The eight schools being renovated include Government High School, T.A Thompson junior high, and Sybil Strachan primary among others.

Prime Minister Davis stressing the importance of the improvements ahead of the new school year.

Some of the schools have undergone major structural upgrades like improvements to stairways, balconies, and foundational work.

As for the cost, the education minister says a significant amount of money has been pumped into the projects, adding that in some instances more work was needed than initially anticipated.
