Taxi Driver Accused of Raping a Woman Who Worked in Girlfriend’s Home

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 45-year-old taxi driver is behind bars accused of raping a woman who worked in his girlfriend’s home.

Cheguvera Moxey faced charges of rape, threats of death and assault with intent to rape in relation to the September 21 incident.

Moxey did not have to enter pleas to the charges when he stood before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans for the first time.

Bail was denied and Moxey is back in court on November 28 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.

Prosecutors say at around 9AM Moxey went to his girlfriend’s home off Soldier Road.

Once inside, Moxey allegedly locked the door, pushed the 41-year-old child caregiver against the fridge and raped her while threatening to kill her.
