ANTIGUA & BARBUDA – While heads of government are meeting to discuss the Commonwealth’s future, young people are also making their voices heard.
The 14th Commonwealth Youth Forum, held at the University of the West Indies Five islands Campus, brought together young leaders and representatives from across member countries.
The forum provides a platform for young people to address issues affecting their generation, exchange ideas and develop recommendations for consideration by Commonwealth leaders.
Michel Small-Bartley, who works in youth development at the Caribbean Community Secretariat, explains that one of the ongoing projects is strengthening youth development by revising their action plan.
The Bahamas was also represented in the discussions, with Minister of Youth and Sports Mario Bowleg present.
For The Bahamas’ Commonwealth youth ambassadors, Ilan White and Chanae Barr, it was an opportunity to learn, share perspectives and bring new ideas back home.
Even though the young delegates were focused on the future of the next generation, Prime Minister Philip Davis was also engaged in discussions about the Commonwealth’s economic future on Tuesday afternoon.
