NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Department of Consumer Affairs handles rent matters. But when asked about the issue of rent control, they say there’s a bit of a challenge when it comes to enforcement.

Price Inspector in the Department of Consumer Affairs, Jason Johnson says the Rent Control Act is outdated.

Johnson says most of their interactions involve mediating between landlords and tenants and the Consumer Affairs Department gave out pamphlets today advising the public on rent issues.
