NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Utility costs and blackouts are taking a toll on even the biggest tourism players in The Bahamas this summer.

During The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association Board of Directors & Membership virtual meeting, multiple speakers mentioned their struggles with utilities this year, including Baha Mar President, Graeme Davis, who said their utility costs are up a whopping 48%.

And it’s not just Baha Mar feeling the heat.

Executive Director of the Bahama Out Islands Promotion Board, Kerry Fountain, says hotels and tourism stakeholders in the out islands are also struggling with skyrocketing bills and unreliable service.
