NASSAU, BAHAMAS – State Minister for the Public Service Pia Glover-Rolle says there have been a number of meetings with the public service union president, the labor relations union head, and the ministers of health and social services since last week’s protests involving workers from social services and the dental unit of the Ministry of Health.

Last Thursday and Friday, multiple social services locations didn’t open, now Glover-Rolle tells us they’re addressing the concerns around regularizing people who have been classed as temporary workers for even years at a time.

She says most often the hold-up stems from outstanding documents.

Glover-Rolle says she hopes more frequent communication can prevent this kind of escalation in the future.
