Bus Drivers Union: Minister Must Resign
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Unified Bus Drivers Union says they feel insulted after Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis advised residents to report any bus driver who increase their bus fare.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Unified Bus Drivers Union says they feel insulted after Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis advised residents to report any bus driver who increase their bus fare.
Union General Secretary Corvell Colebrooke says they were advised of the 25 cents increase, and as a result, they’re calling for her resignation.
Earlier this month, The Bahamas Unified Drivers Union released a statement advising drivers jitney fares will increase by 25 cents for adults and junior and high school students effective August 14, moving the bus fare from $1.25 to $1.50.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Coleby Davis said cabinet discussed the matter but said no increase was given.
