NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man is behind bars after being charged with the murder of his father in quiet community of Acklins, while a teenage boy  accused of assisting him hide the body is free on bail.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Shanton Ferguson shot and killed 57-year-old Shawn Ferguson to death before beheading him on May 25.

A 16-year-old teen is accused of helping Ferguson to avoid due process of the law.

The businessman’s remains were recovered in separate shallow graves on May 26.

The accused did not have to enter pleas to the charges when they stood before Senior Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.

Ferguson was denied bail and the juvenile was released on $9,000 bail.

Both accused are due back in court on August 28 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
