Algernon Cargill Returned as Bahamas Aquatics Federation President

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Algernon Cargill returns as the president of The Bahamas Aquatics Federation following its AGM, which was held today, January 11th.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Aquatics Federation, the national governing body for aquatic sports, held its annual general meeting and elections of its executive board on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

The Federation returns to the competent leadership of Algernon Cargill, who was unopposed for President.

In a thorough report, Cargill highlighted the achievements of Bahamas Aquatics over the past four years, including sponsorships, international appointments, event hosting and participation, membership, individual athlete and National team achievements.

Cargill has served in the post since 2003.

He will be supported by a trio of experienced vice-presidents. Grand Bahamian, Lynne Fraino,to return as First Vice-President. Christine Wallace-Whitfield, will lead public relations efforts for the Federation as Second Vice-President and Gena Culmer-Taylor will work as Third Vice-President.

Georgette Albury will resume the role of Secretary. Albury will be assisted by Andrea Longley who returns to the post of Assistant Secretary.

Erald Thompson will serve as Treasurer and assisted by Kendric Albury as Assistant Treasurer.

In addition to the election of executive officers, Courtney Barr, Carrie Saidi, and Mark-Anthony Thompson were elected as members-at-large, each bringing individual strengths and interests to omplete the 2025-2028 executive board lineup.

Executive members of Bahamas Aquatics are elected for a term of four years.

The Bahamas Olympic Committee supervised the election process.
