NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This is Los Angeles native Nilla Allin, recording artist and content creator.

Many of you watching may have heard of her by now due to her energetic social media post about The Bahamas or the controversy around the open verse challenge for her song “Just Vibe”.

It’s a song that is dedicated to a recent trip here.

Recently Nilla announced the winner of the open verse challenge, Bahamian artist Qillafang and in this exclusive interview I chatted with her about the music industry from her perspective.

But first let’s address the claim of her hosting this challenge as a way to exploit Bahamian talent.

Nilla, who has a degree in human developmental sciences with a specialization in equity and diversity, wanted to pursue her dream of being a rapper.

However, she says, in the beginning, it wasn’t paying the bills nor did she want her image and integrity to be comprised by record labels.

Her desire to have ownership of her material led her to content creation.

It was the revenue that allowed her to quit her job and make her music dreams come true.
