Americans Charged with Operating Illegal Fishing Charters

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An American charter fishing company owner is accused of illegally conducting his business in Bahamian waters.

Captain Anthony Young, owner of Florida-based Forever Young Charters, and his spearfishing guide Mason Martel, were arrested in a sting operation by officials in Great Harbour Cay, Berry Islands on September 19.

They are accused of taking three people on a charter fishing trip without holding the required license.

Young is further accused of operating two more illegal fishing charters in the Berry Islands in March 2025.

Young and Martel were not required to plead to the charges when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley because they will be tried in the Supreme Court.

They were each granted $7,500 cash bail and next return to court on December 4 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
