Antigua: 20-Yr-Old Woman Charged With Murdering Missing Girl

ANTIGUA – An Antiguan magistrate has remanded 20-year-old Angela Mejia to His Majesty’s prison after she was charged with the brutal murder of 9-year-old Chantel Crump.

Mejia faced murder charges days after crump was found dead in bushes early Saturday morning.

She allegedly led the authorities to the location where the girl’s body was found.

Media reports say the 9-year-old was allegedly abducted on Wednesday afternoon while she was on her way home from school.

Authorities have yet to fully disclose the details surrounding the young girl’s death, but the crime has sparked an overwhelming outpouring of grief and disbelief throughout the region.

Mejia appeared in court earlier today before Magistrate Ngaio Emmanuel, where she requested legal representation.
