UNITED STATES – “It’s the end of an era, AOL has officially shut down its dial-up internet.
The company confirmed it pulled the plug this week, ending a service that introduced millions to the web back in the ’90s and early 2000s.
Census data shows more than 160-thousand U.S. households still relied on dial-up last year… but AOL says it’s moving on.
The company, now owned by Yahoo, is keeping email and other services.
Some social media users called it a nostalgic goodbye.
