NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Honduran migrants joining the growing group of Venezuelans fleeing poverty heading to the United States. That’s according to a U.S. migration official after a local TV station showed the group of mostly young Hondurans leaving the northern city of San Pedro de Sula looking to reach the United States.

When the leftest president rose to power in Honduras in January, she promised measures to discourage mass migration.

Close to three-quarters of the population lives in poverty and financial distress.
