NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After a years long standoff with successive governments, The Bahamas Union of Teachers finally signing an industrial agreement with the government this morning. The union president says hundreds of teachers will benefit.

The new industrial agreement between The Bahamas Union of Teachers and the government will last for three years. No agreement has been in place since 2018.

The BUT president says there will be a 15% salary increase over the three year period; Adding that dental and vision insurance are among the newest benefits.

Government’s Senior Negotiator Lester Turnquest says the agreement is a good one. While, Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin calls teachers critical stakeholders.
