The co-founders say they spent the past two years researching industries that thrive during pandemics, and that is when Bahamas Mineral and Manufacturing Cooperation was born.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This duo of 26-year-old Mitchell Thurston and 36-year-old Astra Armbrister-Rolle are looking to break into the manufacturing industry, something extremely rare for the country. The co-founders say they spent the past two years researching industries that thrive during pandemics, and that is when Bahamas Mineral and Manufacturing Cooperation was born.

Armbrister-Rolle says the possibilities of what their company could manufacture are endless. But as of now, their focus is PVC products since the country currently imports 100 percent of its needs.

While Thurston has a background in economics and Mitchell comes from a background in environmentalism and public policy.

They both say they enjoyed the learning process that came along with the industry transition. however, they do admit that there have been some challenges.

The co-founders are currently in the capital raising phase and say they plan to begin the manufacturing process early 2023.

BMMC will be headquartered on Grand Bahama and they are currently seeking employees.

Here’s their advice to other aspiring entrepreneurs looking to open doors in new industries.
