Team Bahamas lost both matches on the road in the second round of the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team was defeated 1-0 by Saint Kitts and Nevis at Warner Park in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. Ethan Bristow scored the lone goal of the match at the 12-minute mark. The Bahamas also lost 7-1 to Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend. Group B includes Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, and Grenada. Costa Rica leads the group with six points, while Trinidad and Tobago are second with four points. The group winners and runners-up will progress to the third and final round.

Optimism for Women’s National Basketball Team

A promising youth movement has Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin optimistic about the future of the women’s national basketball team program. She outlined how the federation plans to stay connected with players beyond this week’s training camp. A few Bahamian minor leaguers are off to promising starts in the second division of rookie league baseball. Miami Marlins infield prospect Cherif Neymour is hitting .333 in his first season in the Florida Complex League. In a recent game, Neymour finished 2-5 with a triple, a double, scored two runs, and added a stolen base, with an .866 OPS this season.

In the Arizona Complex League, San Francisco Giants infield prospect Ryan Reckley is hitting .316. Reckley homered for the first time this season in the Giants’ 8-7 win over the FCL Padres, with a .500 OBP and .974 OPS on the year. The complex leagues are the second level of rookie league baseball in the minor league systems.
