Bahamas to Field 35-Member Team for CARIFTA Gymnastics Competition

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Gymnastics Federation is excited to unveil a team of 35 talented gymnasts who will proudly represent the country at the upcoming Carifta Games in Trinidad and Tobago in December.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Gymnastics Federation is excited to unveil a team of 35 talented gymnasts who will proudly represent the country at the upcoming Carifta Games in Trinidad and Tobago in December.

The team was selected after weeks of intensive skills clinics and the guidance of internationally certified FIG judge Rita Abdou, who assisted in the final selections.

The Carifta team is comprised of gymnasts from various member clubs of the Gymnastics Federation of the Bahamas, including Airborne Gymnastics and Fitness Club (Rashad Cunningham and Toni Johnson) , Bahamas Star Gymnastics (Nicola Thompson and Tenille Delsume) , and Paradise Gymnastics Academy (Kachara Marshall) , all based in Nassau, Bahamas. The team also proudly includes gymnasts from Island Dance and Gymnastics (Ashley-Aria Knowles) , representing the family islands of Spanish Wells and Eleuthera.

The team comprises: Daniyah Culmer, Imai Kenny, Amaris McPhee, Roxy-Bear Simmons, Tatiana Simon, Ariah Elliot, Isabelle Mcsweeney, Aubrey-Skye Munnings, Angela Rolle, Naime Burnside, Chloe Lightbourne, Braeden Musgrove, Cordesha Pierre, Aaliyah Pinder, Aldranique Russell, Elika Sweeting, Taraji Williams, Skai Campbell, Amelia Francis, Anai Ingraham, Daelyn Jones, Rielle Whylly, Debby Zonical, Kaylie Bynoe, Shaniah Campbell, Kayla Culmer, Charis Edgecombe, Maleah Miller, Syara Moss, A’nyiah Williams, Taevia Wright, Kia Bazard, Tiana Nixon, Rhianna Smith, and Sade Hall.

The team is expected to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago on December 4th and depart on the 8th and will compete from December 5th to 7th.

The gymnasts will compete across a range of levels, from level 1 to 9, under the USAG discipline, as well as in the PAGU (Pan American Gymnastics Union) Hopes program, levels 1, 2, and 3.

The Gymnastics Federation of The Bahamas wishes Team Bahamas the best of luck in Trinidad and Tobago and is excited about the continued growth of the sport in the country.

The federation has been working diligently to provide athletes with the resources and support they need to excel, and this year’s team reflects the hard work and dedication of both the gymnasts and their coaches.

In addition to the team’s preparation, the federation has also made a commitment to the development of the sport by registering eight individuals to participate in the FIG International Judges WAG course and exam. This initiative highlights the federation’s dedication to fostering excellence within the sport.
