NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamasair’s flight UP147 lifted off shortly after 8am on Sunday, further deepening the connection between The Bahamas and Jamaica.

In just one hour and four minutes, the aircraft touched down at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.

Upon arrival, passengers were greeted with applause and excitement before clearing Jamaican immigration.

At Bahamasair’s gate, a ceremony was held. Councillor Dwight Crawford, Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay, Extending greetings to the delegation and passengers.

High ranking officials from both Jamaica and The Bahamas sharing remarks, emphasizing the significance of this new connection.

Immigration Minister Alfred sears and Jamaican Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett both highlighted the potential for this route.

Bahamasair Managing Director Tracey Cooper expressed optimism about the new partnership. 

Meanwhile, one passenger said she enjoyed the quick flight.

The festivities continued with a Bahamian Junkanoo rush out, blending the cultures of both nations.Passengers were then treated to traditional Jamaican cuisine.
