NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The union representing Bahamasair employees are threatening industrial action over key issues.

One of them is the plan to outsource ramp service agents to the Nassau Flight Services.

The union president telling members to stand by for an emergency meeting and warn of a strike vote if the matter isn’t resolved.

Unrest is brewing at the Airport Airline and Allied Workers’ Union amid claims Bahamasair revealed plans to outsource ramp service agents to the Nassau Flight Services. 

Union President Jewel Fountain called the move out of the ordinary for airlines at them home base.

Fountain claims management sent letters to the ramp service agents with payout figures. She also claims the letter gave them an ultimatum to either agree to the payment or face redundancy.

This move will Impact around 50 ramp service agents employed with the national flag carrier. 

Fountain says the plan is to call an emergency meeting with it’s members adding a strike vote application could be made as early as Wednesday.
