NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Government is looking to beef up security at the Bahamian Embassy in Haiti, following the kidnapping of an official on that island last weekend.

Officials were given the option to return home but Prime Minister Philip Davis says none of them have taken the opportunity.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister saying officials remain concerned about the safety of diplomats in Haiti.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the incident took place around 6am, Thursday in the employee’s neighborhood.

Haitian police are said to be investigating the incident.

While the Prime Minister says he doesn’t know the full details of the matter, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe saying the embassy got an arms upgrade when the Davis administration took office.
