NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamian basketball players VJ Edgecombe, Buddy Hield, and Deandre Ayton delivered strong performances in NBA action last night, showcasing Bahamian talent on the international stage.

Edgecombe Explodes in Sixers Win

Rookie guard VJ Edgecombe of Bimini had a breakout game for the Philadelphia 76ers, leading his team to a 126–110 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Edgecombe finished with 26 points, six rebounds, three assists, and five steals, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.

He played a key defensive role, creating turnovers and energizing the Sixers on both ends of the court. Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 27 points and seven assists in the win.

Hield and Ayton Face Tough Losses

Grand Bahama native Buddy Hield contributed 11 points off the bench for the Golden State Warriors, going 4-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-9 from three-point range, in a narrow 106–103 loss to the LA Clippers.

Meanwhile, Deandre Ayton nearly recorded a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds for the LA Lakers in their 117–116 loss to the Sacramento Kings. The Nassau-born center shot 5-for-8 from the field and 2-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Fans won’t have to wait long for a Bahamian matchup, Ayton and the Lakers will face Hield and the Warriors when NBA action resumes on Tuesday.

Local Coaches Advance Through CONCACAF Training

Back home, the Bahamas Football Association (BFA) announced that a group of local coaches from islands, schools, and clubs have earned their CONCACAF C License.

The achievement follows the completion of a six-day course held in August that featured classroom instruction and live on-field training designed to help coaches maximize player performance across all skill levels.

With the first phase completed, the coaches now move into the development stage, applying their training in real-world scenarios. The BFA expressed gratitude to CONCACAF for its continued support and encouraged other local coaches to take advantage of the BFA’s virtual training center, which offers free online coaching resources.
