BBA To Host Inaugural Youth All-Star Weekend

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – We’re a week away from the first-of-its-kind showcase in Bahamian baseball, as the country’s youngest stars are set to take over Andre Rodgers Stadium.

The Bahamas Baseball Association will host its inaugural youth All-Star Weekend, July 25-27, featuring the top players in the 8u, 10u, and 12u divisions throughout the country.

The BBA All-Star Weekend will feature a packed schedule of competitive games, skills challenges, and for the first time — a dedicated media day where the spotlight shifts directly to the players.

The weekend begins Friday afternoon with registration and photo shoots, followed by the official media day session. \

Players will take part in interviews, before showing off in the skills challenges — including the home run derby, fastest runner, and golden arm competitions.

Saturday and Sunday are all about the game — with each division playing a three-game series Under the guidance of some of the top coaches in the country. Every athlete will receive all-star jerseys and rings.

The new initiative from the bba, aims to raise the profile of youth baseball — and recognize the Next generation of student athletes.

Soccer

The Bahamas Football Association is preparing to host the U.S. Virgin Islands to a series of international friendlies

The two sides will face off July 25 and 26, at the Roscow A.L. Davies Soccer Fields.

The event will feature four matches over two days, giving the players valuable experience and fans an opportunity to see competitive youth football. 

Morning matches start at 8:30 am with free entry, while evening matches kick off at 7:30 pm, with $10 tickets for adults and $5 for kids under 12.

Team Bahamas will be coached by Ricqea Bain and assisted by Codisha Brown-Colebrook, who have been leading preparations over the past several weeks.

The BFA continues its focus on youth development, with a strong commitment to building the sport in The Bahamas.

Basketball

Rhiaughn Ferguson has been putting up a string of impressive performances this summer on the AAU circuit and continues to boost his recruitment stock.

Ferguson posted 12 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals for the Florida Rebels at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina.

The 6’8″ 215 pound forward out of downey christian high school out of Orlando, Florida averaged 13.4 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game during the regular season.

InternatIonally, Ferguson also represented The Bahamas at the 2023 Basketball Without Borders Americas event.

Ferguson has received several junior college offers including – Chipola, Miami Dade, Florida Southwestern, Kilgore College, Frank Phillips, Trinity Valley, Columbia State and more.
