NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Thousands of Christians around the country marked the beginning of Holy week with a day called Palm Sunday.

As described in the four Gospels it is the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey greeted by a crowd of people waving palm branches.

In honor of the ancient biblical story churches re-enact the scene, having ceremonial processions with it’s congregation traditional adorned in white.

At St. Agnes Anglican Church we met these three women who has attended the church for more than three decades.

They tell us that the events of Palm Sunday are not a ritual but a lifestyle that is bedded in remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus made.

Jeunesse Bullard – Member of St. Agnes Anglican Church

“The Palm Sunday service for us is the beginning of what we would refer to as the Easter Triduum so we have a number of significant services it’s a seldom time in the church’s calendar and just a reminder for us of what Jesus would have experienced and went through as he walked and to his death on the cross.”
