NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Tensions are high at Bahamas Power and Light, as the Bahamas Electrical Workers union is gearing up to withdraw their labour amid a standoff with executives.

Union President Kyle Wilson believes bpl heads are not living up to their side of the agreement or the Memorandum of Understanding signed by leaders of the PLP and trade unions ahead of their election win.

Wilson says the union has been writing letters to company heads none of which he says they’ve responded too.

Our News attained these videos and pictures of what appears to be the Clifton Pier Power Station. It shows fallen concrete on the floors and spilled oil around the premises.

Wilson says employees don’t feel safe.

We spoke to BPL Chairman Pedro Rolle who said negotiations are ongoing into the concerns at the power stations… He says a contingency plan is in place in the event a strike action occurs.

We put the safety concerns to the chairman as well.
