NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Parliamentarians debating the Parliamentary Services Bill which makes way for an independent parliament.

It’s been an issue that’s been talked about for decades but never brought to fruition.

Prime Minister Philip Davis says the bill will strengthen the operations of parliament.

He says the bill establishes a parliamentary service and creates a service commission that will allow for independence and empowerment.

The opposition throwing its support behind the bill.

Central Grand Bahama Member of Parliament Iram Lewis suggests its a step in the right direction for the Bahamian people.
