UNITED STATES – Billionaire Bill Gates says he’s giving away almost his entire fortune, pledging $200 billion to the world’s poorest through the Gates Foundation over the next two decades.

The Microsoft co-founder says he plans to shut the foundation down by the end of 2045.

Marking the charity’s 25th anniversary this week, Gates said there are too many urgent problems to solve for him to hold onto resources that could be used to help people.

The move comes as global aid funding declines.

Gates warned that progress on issues like child mortality, polio, and poverty won’t happen without strong government support, especially from the U.S.
