UNITED STATES – Americans looking to stock up on eggs for holiday meals may face higher prices and limited supply due to ongoing Avian Influenza outbreaks.

The disease has impacted egg-laying flocks in 48 states, leading to a nearly 3% drop in production compared to last year, according to the USDA.

In October, outbreaks in Utah, Washington, and Oregon led to the loss of 2.8 million egg layers, drastically reducing production.

The USDA projects lower egg production and higher prices through 2025, with the average cost of a dozen eggs rising 30% from last year.
