UNITED STATES – Bitcoin surged past $120,000 for the first time Monday, hitting a record $122,571, according to CoinMarketCap.

The spike comes as the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to debate major crypto legislation during what Washington is calling “Crypto week.”

U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently dubbed himself the “Crypto President” has voiced support for clearer industry rules.

The broader crypto market jumped to a $3.8 trillion valuation with Ether and Solana also seeing gains.
