NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Boat Registration Amendment Bill 2024 that was passed in the House of Assembly on Wednesday is aimed at enhancing safety and oversight in the boating industry.

It mandates that boat owners have a comprehensive insurance policy and outlines inspection requirements and registration fees.

Under the amendments, every boat must be inspected by the New Providence Port Authority and owners must provide records of crew training and boat maintenance before registration.

Our news team spoke to boaters who welcomed the changes calling them long overdue.

This boater says this does not affect her company in any way.

Meanwhile, some boaters feel authorities should be focusing on the bad apples.
