Body Found After Wulff Road Building Goes Up In Flames

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Residents in the Wulff Road area identifying the man who died in the a structural fire as “Johnson” on Thursday night.

They believe he was the man found following a structural fire at a building that included a convenience store and apArtments near Windsor Park on Wulff Road.

Media were notified just before 7 of the fire but residents in the area told us the fire had been ablaze just after 5pm.

Police Press Liaison Officer Chief Superintendent Sheria King shares what officers met once they arrived.

“When they arrived on scene they found the building engulfed in flames,” she said.

“They brought the fire under control and later extinguished the fire. They did an internal examination of the building and when they did they found what appears to be the body of an adult male in the building.”

Residents also told Our News that they told fire officers there was someone in the building.

Chief Fire Officer Superintendent Demeris Armbrister responding saying that residents would have said that there might have been someone in the building after the fact.

I also asked the press liaison about when officers responded to the scene and the time the media was alerted.

“We always have to confirm all information so while there may have been a structural fire, remember I said that I said fire services went into the building and then did their inspection so it was then that we had to get information and confirm that information first before we give that information to our medIa colleagues,” Chief Supt. King said.

Also on scene was South Central Division Commander, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings.

The fire took place in an area that falls within her division. She made this appeal to residents.

“It’s your time to make your best contribution to your Bahamas,” she said.

“I’m going to ask you, you may have saw something, you may have seen someone leaving this area, I’m asking you to please reach out to the officers of the Criminal Investigations Department or to my officers at the South Central Division.”
