NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Members of the Bahamas Public Services Union protested, Friday, over the role and management of The Bahamas Public Parks and Beaches Authority.

Kimsley Ferguson, BPSU president, says it appears the Authority does not understand its role, although it is clearly defined in the act, establishing the body.

According to the Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority Act, 2014, the function of the Authority is “to control, plan, design, develop, administer, manage and maintain the public parks and public beaches designated by the Authority,”… among other things.

Ferguson contends that road verges do not fall under the Authority.
