GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Buddy Hield Foundation marked another major milestone on Sunday, August 17th, with its 11th Annual Basketball Camp and Back-to-School Giveaway at Pinedale Community Park.

In the heat of the afternoon, more than 650 children were supported, making this the largest turnout since the program began.

Students walked away with backpacks, Nike shoes and shirts, playtime Sports shoe vouchers, cash, bicycles, tablets, laptops, basketballs, water bottles, school supplies and more.

Families enjoyed food, music, bouncing castles and a true community celebration. Buddy Hield spent the day signing autographs, taking photos and reminding parents and students why giving back to the community that raised him will always be at the heart of his Foundation’s work.

This event follows a busy summer for the Foundation, which began in June with a basketball camp in Exuma and continued with the Buddy Buckets Bahamas AAU team’s successful run in the United States. That effort resulted in eight Bahamian athletes receiving offers to further their education and basketball careers abroad.

The work also entered a new phase this week. Rather than hosting student sessions, the Foundation is focusing on coaches, recognizing the role they play in shaping the next generation of players.

Beginning on August 18th, and continuing on Tuesday, a two-day clinic at the Eight Mile Rock High School Gymnasium will serve 20 coaches across Grand Bahama, giving them tools, skills and resources to better support student-athletes.

Later this week, the Foundation will travel to New Providence with its 24 Elite program to bring together a select group of players for skill development ahead of the new school year.

With record-breaking support for children in Grand Bahama, a new emphasis on coaches, a successful Exuma camp and international opportunities through AAU basketball, the Buddy Hield Foundation continues to build on its mission to empower young Bahamians through sport, education and community service.

“As long as I have the platform to do it, I’ll keep giving back and creating opportunities for the kids coming up behind me,” said Buddy Hield.
