NASSAU, BAHAMAS – She’s almost literally going from the pit to the palace as her autobiography is titled.

Cynthia “Mother” Pratt will officially become the 12th Governor-General of the Bahamas and the third woman to serve in that post.

Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin and State Minister for the Public Service Pia Glover-Rolle reflected on “Mother’s” ascension throughout her political life.

They also agree that mother’s effect transcends every sphere of Bahamian society.

And Hanna-Martin says for her, gender has very little to do with the incoming governor-general’s story.

“Mother” Pratt will officially be sworn in at a ceremony at the Lower Grounds of Government House beginning at 9am on Friday.
