NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former Cable Bahamas executive has filed a lawsuit for wrongful dismissal and breach of contract.

Cable Bahamas, which is important for us to note in our reporting is the parent company of Our TV, is at the center of the claim, according to court documents filed in the Supreme Court in early june on behalf of former Vice President Rawiya Hanna.

The legal documents claim she was subjected to sexual harassment, bullying, and misogynistic and racist conduct before she was fired last summer.

Hanna, who began working for the company in January 2021, was fired from her position on August 30th, 2024.

But her lawsuit claims she was allegedly let go without being paid her salary, vacation pay, or notice pay.

As it relates to the timing of her firing, the lawsuit alleges it happened months after a member of the cable bahamas board of directors made unwanted sexual advances towards her and rammed into her 2019 bmw suv in february 2024 following a company dinner.

The lawsuit also alleges she was on the receiving end of sexist and unprofessional behavior during her tenure at the company.

In a statement, Cable Bahamas said it is aware of the lawsuit and takes the complaint seriously. The company also says it’s committed to a fair and thorough review of the matter.

Now, in a note to staff, the company says as the matter involves ongoing litigation and an active internal review and while no conclusions have been reached the company says the process is ongoing.

As a news organization, we remain committed to covering this story and others like it with the integrity our viewers expect.

Even when the story involves our parent company, we hold ourselves accountable.
