The agriculture minister pleased with how The Bahamas measures up against regional counterparts, however the minister tells our Sasha Lightbourne there is still much more work to be done.

The Davis administration is on the right track when it comes to pushing backyard farming in the country.

Agriculture Minister Clay Sweeting says other countries in the region are taking notice. Sweeting participated in the 43rd regular meeting of CARICOM heads of government in Suriname where food security and by extension, backyard farming was widely discussed.

He says backyard farming has done well, but the government has a national and wholistic approach to achieving sustainable food security.

He says the idea is to take backyard farming and incorporate it into the whole idea of agribusiness.
