BARBADOS – CARICOM says Barbados’ 2026 general election was held in a credible and transparent environment, following preliminary findings from a regional election observation mission.

According to CARICOM, a three-member election observation team was deployed after an invitation from the government of Barbados to monitor the February 11th polls.

The mission is made up of senior electoral officials from Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, and Jamaica and is supported by staff from the CARICOM secretariat.

CARICOM says that the team assessed the pre-election climate, met with stakeholders, and observed voting and ballot counting . The team had a goal of providing an independent and impartial analysis of the process.

CARICOM says full findings are expected in a detailed final report.
