CARICOM SG: Regional Women Facing Equality Challenges

CARICOM’s Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett says women in the region still have many challenges to overcome including pay equality, gender-based violence and social exclusion.

CARICOM’s Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett says women in the region still have many challenges to overcome including pay equality, gender-based violence and social exclusion.

In a message marking international women’s day, the region’s top female public servant, said that Caribbean countries this year should celebrate the progress we have made towards gender equality and women’s empowerment. 

She said as the region goes forward, investing in strengthening regional and national gender equality is critical to investing in women, and for accelerating progress.
