TEXAS, UNITED STATES – The measles outbreak in Western Texas is spreading fast now at 400 cases, with 73 reported in just the last three days, according to new data released by the centers for disease control Friday.

Most cases are in unvaccinated people, and over 40 have been hospitalized.

Health experts warn that some parents are turning to vitamin A as a treatment.

But doctors say it doesn’t prevent measles and, in some cases, is causing vitamin a toxicity in children.

Officials stress that vaccination is the best protection, with two doses of the measles vaccine proving 97% effective.
