UNITED STATES – The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) says a newly discovered bat Coronavirus does not currently pose a public health risk.

While Chinese researchers found the virus can enter human cells in lab tests, no human infections have been detected.

The virus, HKU5-CoV-2, belongs to the same family as MERS but does not infect human cells as easily as COVID-19.

Scientists say the risk of spillover should not be exaggerated, and existing antiviral treatments could be effective if needed.
