Bahamian Athletes Shine

The road to Paris continued for our elite Bahamian athletes at the New York Grand Prix. Devynne Charlton continued her stellar outdoor season, winning the 100m hurdles in 12.56 seconds. Donald Thomas had a season’s best performance in the high jump, finishing third with a mark of 2.23m. In the long jump, LaQuan Nairn finished fifth at 7.49m.

Liberty’s Victory

Jonquel Jones and the New York Liberty had their biggest win of the season on Saturday, but there was no letdown a day later when they pushed their win streak to seven. Jones finished with a season-high 29 points and eight rebounds to lead the Liberty to a 93-88 win over the Washington Mystics Sunday at the Barclays Center. The Liberty are 11-2 on the season, second in the Eastern Conference behind the 9-1 Sun. A big matchup against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces is scheduled for this weekend.
