Ching Transitions From France to the U.S.A.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Whitfield Ching’s basketball journey has taken him across continents and has prepared him for the next of his athletic career.

Ching, a 6’7″ wing at Veritas Academy recently completed his junior season with the prep basketball powerhouse in Santa Fe, California.

Through the Raw Talent Elite organization, Ching spent the previous season in France with the Fos-Sur-Mer Byers Academy.

Since making the move to Veritas last year, Ching has had standout performances at the Under Armor Association session 3 in Atlanta and the section 7 tournament in Arizona.

After competing at the academy level in Europe, and now experiencing the fast paced world of AAU and prep basketball recruiting in the United States, Ching said he’s ready for the next step.

Karting

Lenox Lockhart achieved a major milestone on kart racing’s international stage.

The nine-year-old Lockhart won the Micro Swift Finals of the Superkarts USA season.

After getting through the qualifiers, he began race day and in 10th position before maneuvering through the field and taking the top spot across the finish line.

Driving for velocity racing and Sodi Kart, it was Lockhart’s first pro tour victory in the micro swift category.

SK-USA is the largest racing series in the United States of America and attracts drivers worldwide. 

Pockin’

The National Pockin’ League hosted tryouts last weekend at the Roscow Davies Soccer Field.

Dozens of aspiring players between the ages of 18-40 were on hand to recapture a love for the game nearly every Bahamian played in primary school.

Baseball

The Bahamas Baseball Association continues its community outreach on the Family Islands with its first in a series of mini tournament.

The BBA is set to host its highly anticipated 12u mini tournament from April 4-6 at Twin City Field in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera. 

The event will bring together some of the nation’s top young talent from Eleuthera, the Junior Baseball League of Nassau,Freedom Farm Baseball League, and the Abaco Youth Baseball Association.

BBA President Clarence McKenzie emphasized the association’s commitment to fostering baseball’s growth throughout the Family Islands.

Following this weekend’s competition, the BBA will host a 14U mini tournament in Abaco, followed by a 10U tournament in Long Island next month.
