GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Sir Charles Hayward Library is stepping into the future, offering a new digital library service called “overdrive.” aimed at adults, overdrive provides e-books and a wide array of magazines.

Library Administrator Shenreikah Faustin says it’s perfect for those who can’t always visit in person and want to stay current with 21st century reading standards.

For younger readers, the library has introduced “ivox” which allows children to use tablets or other devices to read and be read to by interactive technology.

And since the introduction of these new technologies, membership at the library has seen an uptick.

To keep the library relevant Faustin says she’s always looking ahead. Her next project is encouraging children to travel the world through a books in the library.
