COLOMBIA – At least 10 people including several children, have been killed after a river burst its banks in Colombia.

Officials reporting as much saying rising water levels caused mudslides that swept away homes in a municipality south-east of the capital, Bogotá.

Rescue workers are searching for at least a dozen people who have been reported missing.

They say among those killed are three children aged 12, 10 and six.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro expressed his condolences on Twitter.
