NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Enter another world at the TERN Gallery, as a Bahamian artist explores ‘Colonial Swag’ through fabrics and tapestries.

Issues of colonialism, Anti-LGBTIQ laws and cultural stigmas on display as the TERN Gallery at Island House presents Colonial Swag by April Bey.

Bey says she hopes her show will take people to another place, to examine cultural issues.

You may even see some familiar faces in Bey’s pieces, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the second.

From clothespins, to glitter, and fur, Bey brings her upbringing to her art.

Founding Director at the TERN Gallery, Amanda Coulson says Bey’s intricate work is astounding.

Like a mirror, Bey says her work reflects reality, and looks toward a speculative future.

Bey’s show runs until May 28th at the TERN Gallery.
