Correctional Officer Faces Unlawful Sex Charge

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 24-year-old prison officer is behind bars after being accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a person with a mental disorder.

Prosecutors say Christopher Gomez had sex with the woman in July and August of 2023.

The woman was unable to legally consent because of her mental impairment.

Gomez didn’t have to enter a plea to the charge when he stood before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

Bail was denied and he will remain in custody until he’s granted bail by a Supreme Court judge.
