Deangelo Evans Case: Officer Pleads not Guilty to Manslaughter

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police inspector has denied a manslaughter charge, stemming from a police-involved shooting in 2018.

Inspector Akeem Wilson pleaded not guilty to charges and he unlawfully caused the death of Deangelo Evans on May 27, 2018 when he appeared before Justice Gregory Hilton for arraignment.

Wilson remains on bail. He’s expected to appear before Justice Dale Fitzpatrick on February 17 to receive a trial date.

Wilson’s co-accused, Corporal 3906 Donald Wright, will be arraigned at a later date.

Evans was shot dead after the officers claimed he pointed a .40mm pistol at them.

They officers were dispatched to the Mason’s Addition area in search of a suspect who had robbed Taylor’s Convenience on Burial Ground Corner
